I’ve Got That One!

I’m never too sure whether or not to believe people in shops when they say “Oh yeh, I’ve got that one, it’s great.” Do they really have one, or is this just some elaborate ploy to make me feel that if I buy one I’ll be cool like them? I suppose we’ll never know, such are the mysteries of the universe. In an effort to combat this phenomenon I commanded that our staff photographer, Nick, take a picture of the things that were in my pockets or lurking in the bottom of my bag.  So here it is, a selection of my favourites which I embrace each and every day in an effort to improve life… I think it’s working.

In this picture: AIAIAI Tracks Headphones with mic ($100), Colab Entrepreneur sunglasses ($200), Casio gold analog watch ($79.95), Bellroy Note Sleeve Wallet in black ($100), Incase Slider Case in chrome ($45)

Sorry, We Don’t Have The Purple Vans…

What we do have, however, is a few new ones which are way better! The Rata Vulc will take you to paradise and back with the Hawaiian vibes it’s putting out, and the Madero is perfect for that introvert flare. You know the good sizes never last long, so if you like them let them know.

New Herschel

Our number one best ever bag maker, Herschel, have just hit us hard with their new range. All of the classic styles are back in abundance. There are also plenty of new styles, colours and materials  to keep things fresh. The ever popular Heritage and Little America backpacks have been whittled down and now come in a smaller version for the more petite among us. The Cordura Camo bags have been spruced up with the iconic woodland camo so you can fly under the radar and keep your luggage stealth. Things have started to get a little more tech with the invention of the Crest, forged in the Bad Hills Workshop, utilising ripstop fabrics and all kinds of nifty straps and pockets. There are some totes good totes (sorry, I had to do it), big bags, wallets, satchels, bags on bags on bags. Check the pictures below for a selection of what we have, but be sure to check in at The Lab to see the entirety of our Herschel range. Don’t forget that you can also buy Herschel online here.

Maiden Voyage by Jay Chapman

Maiden Voyage: Jay Chapman’s debut photography exhibition, was shot over 4 months in 2010/11 whilst traveling across the content of South America on his first trip out of Australia.

Beginning travels in Ecuador and visiting the Galapagos Islands onto Peru and hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, followed by Bolivia and its Salt Flats then onto Argentina and the Iguazu Falls, finishing in Brazil and touring the Rocinha Favela and the party of Carnival, the show covers much of the continent.

Recently taking out the travel section in the 2011 Monster Children Photo Annual and receiving an honorable mention in the Blurb Photography Book Now Competition, 2012 is looking to be a strong year for Jay and the Maiden Voyage show a great start.

Maiden Voyage opens at the Mr Simple Hawthorn store at 6pm Thursday 23 February, and runs until 1 March 2012.
