Currently exhibiting at NGV Studio, Board is an exhibition featuring 70′s and 80′s skateboards from the collection of Tony Hallam. To add to the show Just Another Agency have commissioned 50 Australian artists to display their own work, using a deck as the canvas. This will definitely be worth checking out. It runs until February 2012, so make sure you clear some time between now and then. All the information can be found here.
This past Friday saw Mr Simple open his doors to a new location in South Melbourne. Nestled amongst the long standing stalls of the South Melbourne Market a new retail concept has been born, SO:ME Space, and Mr Simple has already asserted himself as a central player within. The space brings together emerging retailers and established retailers alike to take you into a uniquely creative shopping environment. Teeming with life, the market sets the perfect backdrop for the whole experience. The crew from Small Werld have payed a visit to the new store and were kind enough to share their thoughts on the site. Check out what they have to say here. If you’re keen to check out the spot, the market is located at 322 Coventry Street, I’ll let you explore the place and find the store for yourself though, it’s part of the fun. The markets are open Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
You may have noticed lately that our pals at Bellroy have been getting crazy love all over the internet, and rightly so. The Lab is now happy to have a whole bunch of new Bellroy in store. One thing comes through when you first pick up a Bellroy wallet, and that is that these guys are truly passionate about what they do. Not only is the quality exceptional, but the ways they come up with to carry and use what you need will go a long way to making you’re daily doings a lot simpler. Then they take it one step further by producing all their products in the least harmful way possible for our planet, see what I mean here. Oh, and did I mention they’re Australian?
If I had have bumped into you earlier today I would have told you that I know heaps of interesting facts about denim. Now as I wonder which of my interesting facts would be appropriate for a post on the website it occurs to me that I’m not sure of the credibility of any one titbit of information. In fact, I’m not sure I even believe half of it. I’ll keep it brief then. Mr Simple has just released some denim. They are a skinny fit, stretch denim and come in navy, burgundy and khaki. They are good for your legs.
If good things come in threes then I should probably be buying a lottery ticket right now. Yes, that’s because I have already had two pretty awesome things happen. Those things being that there is new Mr Simple and new Herschel in store right now, doesn’t get much better than that right? Right. We have a couple of new colours in the Mr Simple Jenkins Varsity Jacket and three new Banks Shirts. Let me elaborate on why I’m so excited right now. You know those times when you’ve had a long summer day out in the sun and then as the light fades it starts to get a bit chilly? You don’t want to go inside yet, but a jumper might be overdoing it slightly. That is exactly when the banks shirt will come in handy. Next thing you know some gorgeous lady is waking you up in a sun filled room wearing nothing but said Banks shirt. Man, I love summer. What better way to then depart in style than by piling your things into your snazzy Herschel bag and making like a tree. So lock up your daughters, I’m on a winning streak.
We have just received our AIAIAI x Fools Gold Tma-1s and Pipes in store! If you didn’t already notice me jiving on about them in a previous post, then allow me to give you a quick run down. Danish headphone makers AIAIAI have teamed up with Brooklyn based record label Fools Gold to bring you two special edition collaborative models, the AIAIAI pipes and the TMA-1. If you’re in Melbourne and you’re keen to check these out then don’t hesitate to swing by, they aren’t likely to stay around for long.
